BOOK AN APPOINTMENT

Dee Why, Vet-O Pet Services is the vet near you.

Dee Why is one of the Northern Beaches’ most densely populated suburbs — over 23,000 people spread across a mix of apartments, townhouses and older freestanding homes within 3.4 square kilometres. A large share of those households include a pet: a dog who does the cliff walk to Curl Curl most mornings, a cat who occupies the apartment balcony, or a rabbit in a well-equipped hutch off the living room.

Vet-O Pet Services is at 626 Pittwater Road in Brookvale, inside the PetO complex — about 5 minutes south of Dee Why by car, or a short bus ride along Pittwater Road. Dr Chris Hong started the clinic to give Northern Beaches pet owners consistent, affordable vet care without long waits or unexpected bills. He sees patients every day the clinic is open.

Why Dee Why chooses Vet-O Pet Services

A vet who knows your pet’s history

In a suburb where nearly half of households rent and people move around more than in owner-occupier areas, pets sometimes end up with a patchy medical record. Dr Chris Hong has been at the same clinic since it opened. Dee Why clients who book with him consistently see the same vet — not whoever is available that day. Over time, that continuity changes the quality of care: the vet who knows your cat’s baseline is faster at spotting when something is off.

Suited to apartment pets

Over 60% of Dee Why’s dwellings are high-density. That means a lot of pets living in apartments — cats with no outdoor access, small dogs relying on daily walks for stimulation, and occasionally a rabbit or guinea pig in a well-considered indoor setup. The clinic has separate dog and cat consult rooms, cat boarding with pheromone diffusers and nursing supervision, and experience with the specific health issues that come with indoor-only animals: dental disease, weight management, urinary conditions and stress-related behaviour.

Prices published before you book

Vaccination prices are listed on the site. You will know the cost of a C3, C5 or C7 before you leave Dee Why — not after the appointment. If a procedure requires additional work mid-treatment, you are called before anything proceeds. No surprise invoices.

Open when you get home from work

Dee Why has a high proportion of residents working in professional roles, many of whom commute to the CBD. If you get home at 6:30pm and your dog has been limping since the afternoon, the clinic is still open. The evening window — 7pm to 10pm, Monday to Friday — exists precisely for this situation.

Tailored to Dee Why's pet owners

Dee Why’s cliff walk from the rockpool south to North Curl Curl is one of the Northern Beaches’ most popular morning dog walks — and one of its more demanding ones. The track runs along clifftops through scrub, with uneven rocky surfaces underfoot. Dogs who do this walk regularly accumulate paw wear, the occasional rock-related injury, and tick exposure from the coastal scrub. The Long Reef headland loop to the north of Dee Why is another regular route, adding elevation and more time in vegetation.

For cat owners: the majority of Dee Why cats are apartment cats. No garden access means less tick exposure, but it also means less stimulation, more sedentary behaviour, and a higher-than-average likelihood of weight-related health issues developing gradually over years. An annual wellness check is the standard recommendation for indoor cats. The clinic’s separate cat consult room makes the visit less stressful for cats who rarely leave the apartment.

For renters with pets: if you move between properties, your pet’s records stay consistent at Vet-O Pet Services regardless of your address. That continuity matters when a vet is assessing whether something has changed.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far is Vet-O Pet Services from Dee Why?

The clinic is at 626 Pittwater Road, inside the PetO complex in Brookvale — about 5 minutes by car from Dee Why, or a short bus ride along Pittwater Road.

Are you open on weekends and evenings?

Yes. Saturday 8:30am to 12:30pm, Sunday 8:30am to 12pm. Weekday evenings 7pm to 10pm, Monday through Friday.

My apartment building doesn't allow certain breeds. Does that affect the kind of care you provide?

Not at all. Vet-O Pet Services sees all breeds, sizes and temperaments. If your pet has specific needs around handling due to anxiety or breed characteristics, mention it when booking so the team can prepare.

My cat lives entirely indoors. Do indoor cats still need regular vet visits?

Yes. Indoor cats can develop dental disease, weight issues, urinary problems and more — often later and with less obvious symptoms than outdoor cats. An annual wellness check is the standard recommendation.

Can I get a prescription or medication without coming in for a full consult?

Prescriptions require a current patient relationship. If your pet has been seen at Vet-O Pet Services, use the medication request form on the website. First visits require a consultation.

Where do I go after hours for an emergency?

The emergency phone line is reachable from 6am to 10pm any day on 02 8964 7906. Outside those hours, the recorded message will direct you to the nearest after-hours emergency hospital.
